A Message from Our Principal, Johanne O’Sullivan

Johanne O'Sullivan

I am delighted to welcome you into our school community. As the Principal in a newly established school I am enjoying the development of relationships with students, parents and the local community.

Shellybanks ETNS is a happy, vibrant school where all children will be given the opportunity of learning in a caring, stimulating environment. We aim to give your child the opportunity to develop into a well rounded individual.

The warm, welcoming and caring environment that exists in Shellybanks ETNS has been nurtured by our pupils, teachers, parents/guardians, PTA and Board of Management since the school opened in 2014.

Since opening Shellybanks ETNS has become a vibrant city school that emphasises active learning and mutual respect is at the core of what we do. We believe it is important that as a parent / guardian you feel welcome in the school. Education is a partnership between home and school with a shared responsibility based on trust and mutual understanding. The co-operation and participation of parents with our school in the education of their child is positively encouraged.

Our new name reflects the planned location of our permanent school building, in the Roslyn Park site, in Sandymount. We are currently located on the grounds of the RDS, on Simmonscourt Road, Ballsbridge. We are looking forward to many great years ahead in our new location. This is planned for September 2019.

New school building is nearing completion

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

Dear Parents,

I am very excited to announce that our new school building is nearing completion. The builders are in the process of completing the final snags and handover is on Monday 26th of August. We plan to set up classrooms that week and to facilitate this process we will open the school to children on Friday (30th) instead of Thursday as originally planned. This day will be a half day closing at 12:15 to allow staff to complete the set-up of the remaining parts of the school. We will be back to normal school hours on Monday 2nd September.

I know you are all curious to see the building and you are very welcome to accompany children into their classrooms after yard collection at 8:45.

This does not affect the start and finish time for the new Junior Infants (9-12).

As always, I hugely appreciate your understanding and support with the move. I am very confident that the children will be impressed with their new surroundings and happy in our new home in Sandymount. I will email you all once class teachers are assigned as this process is ongoing.

I hope you enjoy the rest of the summer holidays and I look forward to seeing you all on Friday 30th of August at 8:45am. Please update after-school providers of this change.

Kindest regards,

Aiveen Carr

Acting Principal

Building update

While we are busy planning the move to the new building we would like to remind parents/guardians that there will be some adjusting time for the first couple of weeks of the new term.

At this point access to and from the school is only from Seafort Avenue – if this changes we will update you. Parents/guardians must not park on this road and your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
