A Message from Our Principal, Johanne O’Sullivan

Johanne O'Sullivan

I am delighted to welcome you into our school community. As the Principal in a newly established school I am enjoying the development of relationships with students, parents and the local community.

Shellybanks ETNS is a happy, vibrant school where all children will be given the opportunity of learning in a caring, stimulating environment. We aim to give your child the opportunity to develop into a well rounded individual.

The warm, welcoming and caring environment that exists in Shellybanks ETNS has been nurtured by our pupils, teachers, parents/guardians, PTA and Board of Management since the school opened in 2014.

Since opening Shellybanks ETNS has become a vibrant city school that emphasises active learning and mutual respect is at the core of what we do. We believe it is important that as a parent / guardian you feel welcome in the school. Education is a partnership between home and school with a shared responsibility based on trust and mutual understanding. The co-operation and participation of parents with our school in the education of their child is positively encouraged.

Our new name reflects the planned location of our permanent school building, in the Roslyn Park site, in Sandymount. We are currently located on the grounds of the RDS, on Simmonscourt Road, Ballsbridge. We are looking forward to many great years ahead in our new location. This is planned for September 2018.

Games from the past

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

Recently, Second Class have been learning about games from the past. We found out the names and rules of board games and card games that our parents and grandparents used to play when they were children. Some of the parents came in to Aileen’s classroom to teach the students how to play these games. We all had so much fun. Some of us played games we had never played before but would love to play again! Thank you to all the parents and grandparents who lent us their time and gaming skills!

Friendship Week

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

This week we celebrated Friendship Week. The aim was to help our pupils appreciate the friendships they have and also to encourage them to make new friends. The children got the opportunity to engage in lots of fun-filled activities including friendship yoga, Meet and Mingle with another class, friendship art and learning the recipe to be a good friend. We also ran a poster competition based on the theme of friendship. On Friday we had a special Friendship Assembly where Michael’s class performed for everyone.
