Recently, Second Class have been learning about games from the past. We found out the names and rules of board games and card games that our parents and grandparents used to play when they were children. Some of the parents came in to Aileen’s classroom to teach the students how to play these games. We all had so much fun. Some of us played games we had never played before but would love to play again! Thank you to all the parents and grandparents who lent us their time and gaming skills!
This week we celebrated Friendship Week. The aim was to help our pupils appreciate the friendships they have and also to encourage them to make new friends. The children got the opportunity to engage in lots of fun-filled activities including friendship yoga, Meet and Mingle with another class, friendship art and learning the recipe to be a good friend. We also ran a poster competition based on the theme of friendship. On Friday we had a special Friendship Assembly where Michael’s class performed for everyone.
The Senior Infant classes had a wonderful visit from Rob Biddulph, author of a number of children’s’ books, including, ‘Odd dog Out’. Rob read to the children and demonstrated some of his illustrating skills. Thanks to Olivia Freeman for helping to organise this visit.
